For journals etc. we need to support linking ISSN, or ISSN-L, so that all ISSNs are correctly shown in one metadata entry. For example:
“Aktuelle Rheumatologie”
ISSN-L 0341-051X
ISSN of print edition 0341-051X
ISSN of online edition 1438-9940
<mods:identifier type="issn-l">0341-051X</mods:identifier>
<mods:identifier type="issn" displayLabel="print_issn">0341-051X</mods:identifier>
<mods:identifier type="issn" displayLabel="online_issn">1438-9940</mods:identifier>
with i18n properties for each display label
Another typical format is "cd" → displayLabel=”cd_issn”. Alternatively to displayLabel we can use type "issn-p", "issn-o" and "issn-cd" ... But I did not find a standardized solution for this.
